I thought you were a Not-For-Profit, why does Allegany Rescue and EMS bill for services?
We are a Not-For-Profit, however, unlike most Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Services we do not receive any municipal funding/tax dollars for the emergency ambulance services we provide. Our operations are funded through third party billing, donations and an occasional grant. We have a billing company (see below) that handles all billing matters so we can keep our focus on patient care.
I received a check from my health insurance company after being transported to the hospital by Allegany Rescue and EMS. What do I do with the check?
Many insurance companies send a check for ambulance services directly to the insured. This check is meant to pay for the ambulance services provided and you should contact our billing agency to arrange to provide the check to them. Our billing agency does receive a report containing which patients received checks directly from their insurance company and for how much. Keeping this money is insurance fraud. Please contact our billing service and they will assist you with payment.
